About Danielle Peretz
I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#155029) in Santa Monica, working under the supervision of Shelby Stone, LMFT (#112223). As a humanistic and relational therapist, I believe that healing begins through connection—whether with ourselves, our past, or the people in our lives.
I work with adults, children, couples, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My warm, collaborative approach helps create a safe and non-judgmental space where client of all ages can build emotional insight, deepen resilience, and move toward meaningful growth.
My practice includes a special focus on working with creatives, entertainment industry professionals, and parents and caregivers of children and adults with special needs.
With creatives, I understand the unique pressures of the entertainment industry and help clients navigate identity, career stress, and emotional well-being amidst the demands of artistic and high-pressure work.
With parents and caregivers, I offer compassionate support to process challenges, celebrate joys, and foster resilience and balance in the face of caregiving responsibilities.
Approach
With children, I use play-informed, developmentally sensitive approaches that foster emotional expression, regulation, and connection, while working closely with caregivers to support the entire family system.
In my work with couples, I help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and cultivate deeper emotional intimacy—drawing from attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) principles.
I also offer a process group for caregivers of children with special needs, creating a supportive space for connection, shared learning and resilience-building.
My integrative approach includes evidence-based tools from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices. I am also in training to provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a powerful, research-supported modality for treating trauma.
Experience & Credentials
I hold a Master Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles and a B.A. in Liberal Arts, Political Science, and International Relations from UCLA.
Before becoming a therapist, I had a 25-year career as an executive producer and served on the board of Latham Centers, a non-profit organization specializing in education and residential care for individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome.
I also completed my traineeship with Counseling Partners of Los Angeles (CPLA), providing mental health support at a private elementary and middle school. My many years of experience as a consultant and advocate within the special needs community deeply inform my work today. I’d be honored to support you or your family on your path to healing.
I have partial training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy through an EMDRIA approved program and am a member in good standing with the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).
